TechStrat acted as exclusive M&A advisor to Opensend in its acquisition of Fueled.io
Opensend’s acquisition of Fueled.io is a smart combination of two businesses addressing one of the biggest challenges in e-commerce today: turning fragmented customer signals into something brands can actually use. TechStrat is proud to have acted as the exclusive M&A advisor to Opensend on the transaction.
At a high level, the deal brings together Opensend’s strength in customer identification and data enrichment with Fueled’s first-party data activation capabilities. Opensend helps brands identify and enrich anonymous, cross-device shopper activity, while Fueled helps merchants collect, organize, and activate customer events across marketing and measurement workflows. Together, the combined platform is positioned to help e-commerce brands better connect anonymous engagement with known customer relationships and put that data to work across paid marketing, lifecycle messaging, on-site experiences, personalization, and attribution.
What makes the transaction especially compelling is how naturally the two platforms fit together. This is not a deal built around abstract synergies. Opensend and Fueled already support many shared customers, and the combination appears designed to deepen the value those brands receive by improving identity resolution, signal activation, and the overall usability of first-party data without forcing merchants to rebuild their existing stacks.
More broadly, the acquisition reflects where the market continues to move. E-commerce brands are under growing pressure to rely less on fragmented third-party data strategies and make better use of the customer data they already have. The combination of identity, enrichment, and activation is becoming increasingly important for merchants that want a clearer view of customer behavior and better performance across marketing and measurement. In that context, the Opensend-Fueled combination feels timely and strategically well aligned. This interpretation is based on the companies’ stated focus on unifying and activating customer data across channels and improving how first-party data is used across marketing, personalization, and measurement.
As part of the transaction, Fueled will operate under the Opensend brand, and Fueled founder and CEO Sean Larkin will join Opensend as Chief Product Officer to lead integrations and performance innovation across the combined business.
