Tech M&A Weekly Roundup
May 21, 2026
This week in Tech M&A, several transactions stood out across AI-led services, vertical SaaS, cybersecurity, automotive deep tech, and a few broader market-moving deals:
- NTT DATA signed a definitive agreement to acquire WinWire, adding agentic AI, data engineering, and cloud-native Microsoft capabilities to its enterprise AI services platform.
- Visma acquired Dootax and Pag Útil, expanding deeper into Brazilian tax automation and payment orchestration software.
- Argano acquired Ascend, strengthening its position in UKG-led workforce management and HCM transformation services.
- Vibrint acquired Ampsight, adding multi-cloud, cybersecurity, and AI capabilities to its federal technology services platform.
- Akamai agreed to acquire LayerX for about $205m, adding secure enterprise browser and AI usage control capabilities to its Zero Trust stack.
- indie Semiconductor agreed to acquire ams OSRAM’s fabless CMOS image sensor product line for €40m, expanding its ADAS and vision IP footprint.
- NextEra Energy and Dominion Energy announced a landmark merger aimed at creating a much larger power platform, with AI and data-center electricity demand forming part of the backdrop.
- Paramount’s pending transaction with Warner Bros. Discovery remained in focus, with reports pointing to a July 15 target close subject to regulatory approvals.
- Parker-Hannifin agreed to acquire Circor’s commercial and defense aerospace unit from KKR for $2.55bn in cash, marking a notable aerospace carve-out and PE exit.
What matters: buyers continue to prioritize assets that add scarce delivery capacity, deepen platform ecosystems, and improve control over critical workflows or infrastructure. Across software, cyber, and adjacent sectors, the consistent pattern is that strategic value is concentrating around platforms that can own more of the stack.
For CEOs, founders, and investors, that reinforces the importance of building businesses with strong integration value, differentiated expertise, and a clear role inside a larger strategic roadmap.
